Special feeder for conventional LED’s 23-4-2008 | |
Striving to have maximum flexibility and highest accuracy, DIMA is proud to announce the successful introduction of a special feeder for placement of conventional LED’s to be used with all current available DIMA automatic Pick & Place Systems.
Being able to handle as many different SMD component shapes and sizes available in today’s market has always been the challenge for the DIMA Pick & Place machines. Especially for those companies that have small to medium production series of many different kind of PCB’s a flexible Pick & Place machine is a must. Not only very short changeover times but also the capability to handle almost every available component is important. The range of Hybrid and Modulo Pick & Place machines could already handle components ranging as small as 01005 up to 42 x 42 mm large components. Even 16mm high components and 0.3mm fine pitch components are being handled without problems. By introducing a special feeder and pick up tool these Pick & Place machines are now capable of accurately handling conventional LED’s as well. Handling conventional LED’s introduces a few new challenges into this special feeder. Not only should this feeder pick up the conventional LED and place it through-hole, but before picking up the LED the legs should be cut at 2.5mm below the body. DIMA has succeeded to combine all these functionalities into a new feeder that takes only 5 feeder positions in the DIMA Pick & Place machines. Furthermore a special pick up tool has been developed to pick up the LED’s centred at the bulb of the LED in such a way that the legs of the LED stay straight pointed downwards in order to position the two legs through the holes on the PCB. Integration of this new feeder and tool will be possible not only on a new DIMA Pick & Place machine, but DIMA also offers the possibility to upgrade all the current Hybrid & Modulo Pick & Place machine of their existing customers.
During BIAS 2008 in Milan (May 27 – 30), SMT 2008 in Nürnberg (June 3 – 5) and National Electronics Week in London (June 17 – 19), DIMA SMT Systems will live demonstrate the new LED-feeder capabilities.
